Jesse Parkinson first strapped into a snowboard when he was 9 years old. Two months after making his first turns, he finished second overall in the Australian Junior Series. That’s quite impressive, but when you factor in that the Sunshine Coast native has been surfing since he was 3, it’s clear Jesse’s loaded with natural talent on any board he chooses. While Jesse first found the wave, he fell in love with the mountains on a trip to Hokkaido, Japan, ripping powder with his family. Since then, Jesse has been sending it on his snowboard, spending Southern Hemisphere winters based in Jindabyne, riding the legendary parks at Perisher. Now, still too young to get his driver’s license, Jesse’s got his foot square on the gas with an arsenal of tricks that includes double corks and a mean powder slash—but what else would you expect growing up between proper parks in Oz and plentiful powder on yearly trips to Japan? At 15 years old, Jesse’s star is rising, propelled by clean style, never-ending energy, and a massive smile on his face whenever he’s on his board.
